mood ◉

a ring around the profile picture

The last ten posts and replies, read for tone by jev — a model that does not write anything, it only answers typed questions — and turned into a ring of colour around the account's own avatar. Each band is one post. The colour is the mood; the haze is how sure the model was.

why it is asked this way the interesting part

Jev answers typed questions, and the three primitives are not interchangeable. A score returns the expectation over an ordered set of rungs — so the obvious build, one scale from angry to happy, is wrong. A post that is half fury and half delight would come back at the midpoint and render as calm: the model's uncertainty laundered into a confident reading of serenity.

So mood is asked as the two things that genuinely are ordered, plus one thing that genuinely is not. The shape of the variable picks the primitive, not what the other questions happen to use.

valence — bleak → delightedorderedscore
energy — becalmed → franticorderedscore
flavour — wry, tender, angry…unorderedchoice

Valence and energy are two axes whose plane carries the mood, where neither alone does. Colour comes from where a post lands on that plane — never asked for directly, because hue has no order either. The same reasoning applies again when ten readings become one stone: they are averaged on the plane, never in hue. Average the hues of someone half furious and half serene and you get indigo — melancholy, a mood neither post had.
